Christian Haupt and his wife Camilla have been liquorice and chocolate enthusiasts for many years and Christian had far-reaching plans in 2012 to start making chocolate. But after a holiday in Iceland in 2013, he changed his mind and decided to go for licorice.
"In Iceland, I was inspired by the way they combined liquorice and chocolate, and as soon as I got home from vacation, I started Haupt Liquorice," says Christian.
Then followed a longer period where Christian and his colleagues searched for ingredients and suppliers all over the world. And the goal was clear from the start – to create the best liquorice in the world. They wanted to create a sweet and brine that differed from the amount as well as pralines that combined liquorice and chocolate.
